Swapna Vrindavana Akhyana

Srimad Swapna Vrindavana Akhyana of Sri Vadijaja Guru Sarvabhowmaru is published in kannada and Sanskrit pdf downloadable format:

Jagadguru Acharya Madhwa proclaims : we are duty bound to devote ourselves to Lord Vedavyasa. Next we are bound to express our devotion to all superiors starting from Rujus who are flawless preceptors, complete with all 32 characteristic signs.

Approbation of Rujus is mandatory for attaining emancipation-Mukti. Only through them liberation becomes reality. Thereby the devotion in them is a must. How can one make devotion in them until one is aware of their innate nature and greatness? Awareness of their great characteristics, becomes a must! Misunderstood devotion in these Rujus would be detrimental.

Under the above testimony, making differential treatment amongst Rujus or treating inferiors as Rujus, amounts to misunderstood devotion. This undoubtedly amounts to crime of disesteem. Hence, it becomes, all the more important to ascertain the innate nature and greatness of these personalities. Else, one would become victims of this heinous offence.

At the volition of only Vishnu and as an exception, Acharya Madhwa himself disclosed his Identity while he was visible. Whereas Hanuman and Bheemasen did not do so. Sri Vadiraja also did not disclose his identity while he was visible. It is normal for such divinities not to disclose their identity, while they are amidst mortal beings. May be for secret reasons or Hari Chitta.

Even Sri Vadiraja, did not disclose his identity as per normal practice. He was born under special circumstances at the command of Sri Hayagreeva. He widely participated in the illustrious acts as was done by Brahma and Sri Mukhya Prana. Once he entered Vrindavan at the end of his Avatar, it was the wish of Lord, that his identity should be disclosed. This was accomplished through a Brahmin, an incumbent to post of Indra, who was deaf and mutem only on account of Prarabda. Residing in Vrindavan, Sri Vadiraja used to appear in the dream of this Edamooka Brahmin, disclosing his identity and magnanimity through Stanzas, over a period of 12 years. Each Sloka is a diamond mine stuffed with intricate and baffling details. It is affirmed that even wisest of the men, would not be able to comprehend even a little, after its meticulous study during their entire life time. The magnanimity of this Akhyana is evidently brought out, as it spanned a period of 12 years.

Being highly cryptic, it remained in dark and never came to light immediately. The deaf and mute Brahmin incarnated after a span of 200 years and ascended into the lineage of Sonda Vadiraja Parampara as Sri Vishwapriya theertha. With the blessings of Hayagreeva the teachings of Sri Vadiraja rejuvenated in Sri Vishwapriya Theertha. He professed and taught the same to disciple Sri. Raghupraveera theertha, who in turn authored “ Sri VrindavanaKhyana Pramaanya Prabodhini’ to establish its authenticity. Another disciple Sri Srimushnacharya wrote commentary on this magnanimous VrindavanaKhyana. These two works played a big role in disseminating a tip of unfathomable depth and greatness of Vrindavanakhyana amongst the learned ones.

Prejudiced people started raising objections and doubts at the validity of this work, for reasons unknown. Depending upon the innate nature, people started appreciating or deploring this great work. Learned Scholar late Jamkhandi Vadirajacharya spent his life time establishing the authenticity of this great work. Late D H Subbarao authored “ Srimadh Vadiraja Ruju Siddhantha” which went on to further the authenticity of this work.

Evidences to establish its authenticity:

Around 1645, Sri Ramachandrachar, the disciple of Sri Vedanidhi Theertha authored “ Sri Vadirajaguruvara Charithamrutha”. This work brings many relevant observations on “Swapna Vrindavanaakhyana”.
Extracts from 7-[17-20] of this work:

The essence of above slokas is:

In the dream of born deaf and mute person (Edamooka), Sri Vadiraja, brings to light the magnanimous facts and account of Himself, bringing joy in the hearts of virtuous men. Sri Vadiraja composed this great work, equivalent to sacred text, which bestows supreme felicity, to those who recites it. Pontiff Sri Vedanidhi Theertha [my Guru] listened to Vipra- edamooka, the next morning, and made me to script those surprising utterances which replicated the scenes and speech as heard during dream. Edamooka after uttering the words, as Sri Vadiraja told, and facts as he saw, use to become deaf and mute again. Myself and my Guru are straight and solid evidence to these facts.

Highlighting the nature and origin of this magnanimous work, it stands out as straight and concrete evidence to prove its validity. 22nd stanza states that Sri Vedanidhi Theertha selected 15 stanzas from this work, added 3 stanzas of his own, and etched them on stone as “AnuVrindavanaakhyana”, which stands as testimony, even today at sonda. Thus it is proved beyond doubt that Sri Vadiraja had authored this work.

Thus Sri “SwapnaVrindavanaakhyana” stands as one of the most solid evidence to establish and proove Rujutva of Sri Vadiraja. This becomes a digestible fact, if one shreds prejudice and open up ones heart to accept the greatness of Sri Vadiraja, as brought out in Akhyana itself.
